Short version: this website sets no advertising or analytics cookies, and loads no third-party tracking scripts. What follows describes exactly what it does store, and why.
Cookies this site sets
For an ordinary visitor who is not signed in to the website, Mater Cleaning Services sets no cookies at all. WordPress, the software this site runs on, sets cookies only for people who log in to administer the site, and those cookies exist to keep that person signed in.
Information kept in your browser
The site stores a small amount of information in your own browser rather than in a cookie. It never leaves your device and we cannot read it from our end.
- Whether you closed the pop-up. If you dismiss the quote pop-up, the site remembers that so it does not reappear on every page you visit. It stays dismissed for the rest of your visit and for a period afterwards.
- How long you have been reading. Two short-lived values track time spent on the site during the current visit, which is what decides whether the pop-up appears at all. They are discarded when you close the tab.
Clearing your browsing data removes all of it, and the site continues to work normally without it.
Third-party tracking
There is none. At the time of writing this site loads no analytics service, no advertising pixel, no social media tracker and no third-party fonts. Typefaces are served from this website’s own server rather than from an outside provider, so viewing a page does not tell any other company that you were here.
This is also why you are not asked to accept cookies when you arrive. Consent banners exist so that you can refuse non-essential tracking, and there is currently no non-essential tracking to refuse. If analytics or advertising tools are added in future, this page will be updated and a consent banner will be added at the same time.
The chat assistant
Maria, the automated assistant, keeps the conversation in memory for the length of your visit so it can follow what you have already told it. If you send an enquiry through the chat, what you entered is submitted in the same way as a form on any other page and is covered by our Privacy Policy.
Forms
When you submit a form, the site requests a short-lived security token at the moment you press send. This protects the form against automated abuse. It is not a cookie and is not used to recognise you.
The consent tick boxes on our forms are about whether we may email or text you. They are separate from anything described on this page.
Managing this yourself
Every major browser lets you view and delete cookies and site data, and block them for individual websites. Because this site relies on none of it for anything other than remembering that you closed a pop-up, blocking it will not stop you using the site or contacting us.
