Move-In Cleaning Before Your Furniture Arrives
Move-in cleaning happens after you have keys and before the van turns up. An empty property looks clean because there is nothing in it, which is a different thing entirely: cupboard interiors, appliance seals, extractor grilles and the shadow left where a wardrobe stood all survive a departing occupant's tidy-up. This is the one window when every one of them is reachable.
Sequencing decides whether this is worth booking at all. Once boxes are stacked in the hall and a bed is against a wall, the value collapses, because the whole argument for cleaning a property you have not lived in yet is access. So the slot to aim for sits between key handover and the removal van, and if that gap does not exist we would rather compress the scope than pretend the full job fits. Where you have hours rather than a day, we prioritise the rooms you will need that night: one bathroom, the kitchen and the bedroom you intend to sleep in. The rest can follow once you know which corner the sofa is going in.
What is included
- Every cupboard, drawer and fitted wardrobe opened and cleaned inside
- Oven, hob, extractor and cold appliance seals dealt with before food goes near them
- Bathrooms taken back to a state you are willing to stand in barefoot
- Floors cleaned throughout while there is nothing standing on them
- Wall marks, picture hooks and the ghosting left by removed furniture addressed where the paint allows
- Window interiors, sills, catches and runners
- Radiators, switch plates, sockets and door furniture
- Loft hatches, meter cupboards and under-stairs space where they are open
What is not included
- Rubbish, furniture or white goods the previous occupant abandoned
- Decorating, filling or touching up the walls
- Carpets needing extraction, which is a separate booking
- Connecting, testing or moving appliances
- Garden, garage or outbuilding clearance
Optional add-ons
Added to your quote only if you ask for them, and priced before the visit rather than after it.
How it works
- 1 We work from your key date Everything is scheduled off the day you can actually get in.
- 2 We confirm services are live Water, power and hot water need to be on, so we check rather than assume.
- 3 We open everything Cupboards, wardrobes, appliances and hatches, because this is the only visit where they are empty.
- 4 We flag what you inherit Damage, scale and marks that were already there, recorded before anybody can attribute them to you.
What affects the price
Every quote is free and fixed after the walkthrough, or from the property details you provide. These are the things that move the figure.
- How many rooms and bathrooms the property has
- What the previous occupant left behind
- Whether the utilities and hot water are on
- How many hours sit between key handover and the van
- Whether the carpets are staying or going
What matters most to Metro Atlanta clients
Homeowners and business owners across Metro Atlanta tend to care about the same three things when they hire a cleaning company. Here is how we approach each of them.
Showing up when we say we will
A cleaning you have to chase is worse than no cleaning at all. We confirm the window before the visit, we arrive inside it, and if something changes on our end you hear it from us first rather than finding out when nobody knocks.
The parts other people skip
Baseboards, the tops of door frames, the corner behind the bin, the inside of the microwave. We work from a checklist built around your property on the first visit, and we adjust it whenever you tell us something matters more than we assumed.
People you are comfortable letting in
Everyone who arrives is in a Mater uniform and can tell you exactly what was booked. Wherever scheduling allows we keep the same pair on your property, so you are not introducing strangers to your home or your building every few weeks.
Not happy with something? Tell us within 24 hours and we will come back and put it right.
Common questions about move-in cleaning
The property looks fine, do I need this?
An empty room reads as clean because there is nothing to judge it against. Open the cupboards, look at the oven door seal and run a finger along the top of a door frame, then decide. Most people book it once and never ask the question again.
When exactly should it happen?
In the gap between getting keys and the van arriving, however short that gap is. If the two land on one date, tell us at the booking and we will work out what is achievable in the hours available rather than discovering the problem on the morning.
Can you do it if the water or power is not on yet?
Not properly. We need running water and, ideally, hot water. Power matters too, for vacuums and for lighting. Check the supplies are live before the date, and if a meter is still to be switched on, move the clean rather than waste the visit.
What if we cannot spare a whole day?
Then we cover the rooms you will actually use on the first night: one bathroom, the kitchen and a bedroom. It is not the full job and we will not describe it as one, but it is the difference between arriving somewhere usable and arriving somewhere you have to start work on.
